::Introducing
the Taiwan Affiliate Health Food Division ::
The Vedan Chlorella and Spirulina Plant is located
in Central Taiwan, an
area which enjoys year-round sunshine, fresh air
and pure water. This is the perfect environment
for cultivating Chlorella (a green algae) and Spirulina
(a blue-green algae) of outstanding quality. Over
the past 25 years, Vedan's research and development
efforts have produced excellent food and nutritional
supplements for human health and beauty. Most of
our microalgae products are exported to Europe,
the United States and other developed countries.
Due to our highly refined production
technology, the quality of these products has been
accepted with absolute confidence in these countries.

::The Discovery of Chlorella::
Chlorella is a round, green, single-cell microalgae,
which grows in both fresh and salt water. The species
has existed for more than three billion years, and
has the ability to multiply quickly and survive
in extreme environmental conditions.
Chlorella was discovered in 1890 by a Dutch scientist,
M. W. Beijernick. Subsequently it was researched
extensively in
German, Japan and America. Chlorella
has impressed people with its high protein content
(over 60% by weight) and its abundance of vitamins,
minerals and other nutrients.
::New Process: Cell Wall Broken
Chlorella::
A new heating and pressurization process breaks
the Chlorella cell wall while maintaining the nutrient
value, which allows the nutrients to be released
and assimilated more easily by the body.
::The Discovery of Spirulina::
Blue-green Spirulina is a multicellular, spiral-shaped
plant that grows in brackish or salty water. It
looks like a tiny spring suspended in the water.
The species has existed on Earth for more than three
and a half billion years. In 1921, a Western biologist
discovered it at Lake Chad in Africa, and gave it
the name Spirulina. In 1963, Dr. G. Clement of the
Institute of French Petroleum (IFP) led a team to
conduct surveys in Africa, and discovered the superb
nutritional value of Spirulina. The IFP began researching
the cultivation of this valuable microalgae. It
was found that Spirulina contains a wide range of
elements and provides special nutrients for the
human body. Spirulina has been recognized as an
ideal natural food supplement, and will certainly
be an important food resource for the future of
mankind.
